CHAPEL HILL, NC - The Clemson women's track and field team is in fourth place after day one of the 2002 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships with 26 points. NC State leads the conference with 48.50 points, while Georgia Tech is second (46) and Florida State is third with 34 points.
The Lady Tigers qualified eight for Saturday's finals, and Jamine Moton set an ACC meet record in the weight throw Moton's mark of 67'9.75" set a meet record, although she clinched the title with a mark of 68'4.5", less than two inches off her personal-best mark of 68'6". In the high jump, Katie Pickett recorded a season-best with a mark of 5'6.5" to finish fourth, and Antisha Anderson was 13th (5'2.5"). Joana Costa cleared 12'3.5" to finish fourth in the pole vault, and Gisele Oliveira was the Lady Tigers' top finisher in the long jump with a mark of 19'2.25" and a fifth-place finish. Sheri Smith was ninth in the long jump (18'8.5"), and Terri Robinson finished 11th (18'7.75"). Jackie Hudgins, Kenya Reed and Mary Gosselin competed in the weight throw, recording personal bests. Hudgins finished eighth with a mark of 52'4", Gosselin was 14th (50'8.25") and Reed was 16th (45'9"). The distance medley relay team of Laura Ann Rukat, Katrina Moultrie, Tiffany Charles and Rebecca White finished ninth with a time of 13:05.09.
