Christian Brothers University senior middle blocker Laura Washington (Seattle, Wash./Garfield HS) has been named the Gulf South Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 17.

Washington hit .474 with 53 kills in three matches during the week, though the Lady Bucs (8-7, 1-2 GSC West) went 1-2. She also collected 19 blocks in her 12 games played.

Washington had 21 kills in the Lady Bucs' 3-2 loss to Harding, 10 kills in their 3-0 loss at Arkansas Tech, and 22 kills in CBU's 3-1 win at Ouachita Baptist.

Washington, the reigning GSC West Player of the Year, is the first CBU volleyball player to be named Player of the Week this season. She also earned the honor once as a freshman and once as a junior.

The Lady Bucs return to the court tonight when they step out of conference play to visit West Alabama.
