Lady Bucs Fall To 0-2 After First Day Of West Florida Tournament

The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer volleyball team dropped its first two matches of the season today as they fell 3-2 to Indianapolis and 3-0 No. 15 ranked Florida Southern.

Pensacola, FL — The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer volleyball team dropped its first two matches of the season today as they fell 3-2 to Indianapolis and 3-0 No. 15 ranked Florida Southern.


 

 

CBU (0-2) came from behind in its first match of the day. After dropping games one and two by the scores of 17-30 and 22-30, the rallied to win games three and four, 31-29 and 32-30. However Indianapolis, took a 9-8 lead in game five and didn't look back, taking the match three games to two.

Laura Washington had 20 kills, five digs and 10 blocks against Indianapolis. Nan Kimbrell added 12 kills and nine digs, while Lauren Amundson had 52 assists and 11 digs. Bridget Buckley had a team-high 18 digs.

UI (1-0) hit .247 in the match and out killed the Lady Bucs 70-58. They had four players in double-figures for kills.

The Lady Bucs had a tough assignment in their second match facing off against No. 15 ranked Florida Southern. CBU fell victim to the hot-hitting Mocs and lost in three.

FSU (2-0) hit .400 in game one and .336 for the match en route to the three game win.

Washington had 10 kills and hit .333 for the match. Buckley had a match-high 17 digs, while Amundson added 27 assists.

The Lady Bucs are back in action tomorrow, August 27 when they face off against St. Leo at 9 a.m. and West Florida at 2 p.m.
