Nov. 11, 2005

Final Stats

Searcy, AR - Laura Washington set a new school record for kills in a season, but the Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneer volleyball team fell three games to none to 4th ranked North Alabama in the first round of the 2005 Gulf South Conference Volleyball Tournament.

CBU (23-14) hung tough with North Alabama in game one, leading on numerous occasions, but three service errors turned out to be the difference as UNA won 30-27. The Lions would take the next two games 30-19, and 30-21.

UNA (33-1) won its 19th match in a row and 33rd of 34th all season. Vanessa Ferretti had 12 kills and 16 digs to lead the Lions.

Washington had 12 kills and six blocks. The 12 kills gave her 522 on the season, breaking teammate Nan Kimbrell's record from a year ago of 518. Hattie Schnacke had nine kills and 10 digs, while Kimbrell added six kills and 13 digs. Lauren Amundson had 27 assists and Bridget Buckley added 10 digs.

The Lady Bucs finish the season with 23 wins, the most since 1995 and the most ever since joining NCAA Division II. They also won seven matches in conference play, the most ever since joining the GSC.
