Lady Bucs Go 2-2 at West Georgia

CARROLLTON, Ga.--The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs split four matches in the West Georgia Classic this weekend, topping St. Andrews and Fort Valley State but losing to West Georgia and Valdosta State.

Friday morning, the Lady Bucs (9-5) rolled to a 3-0 (30-22, 30-25, 30-27) win over St. Andrews (4-4) as sophomore Hanna Orendorff (Renton, Wash./Liberty HS) led the way with 11 kills.  Junior Jenna Cherry (Covington, La./Covington HS) had a team-best 13 digs to lead three Lady Bucs in double figures.  Sophomore Brenna Blackburn (Sandy, Utah/Brighton HS) earned 33 assists to go with 11 digs, while junior libero Bridget Buckley (Parker, Colo./Chaparral HS) added 10 digs.

Friday afternoon, the Lady Bucs were on the other end of a 3-0 score, losing 30-15, 30-17, 30-15 to host West Georgia (9-2).  UWG's Carolin Schoeneck led the way with 12 kills and hit .468 as the Wolves swept CBU.

Saturday morning, CBU swept Fort Valley State 30-22, 30-23, 30-18.  Cherry and freshman Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) led the Lady Bucs with nine kills each, while Hein posted a career-high 18 digs.  Blackburn added 28 assists.

Saturday afternoon, Valdosta State topped CBU 32-30, 30-22, 30-21.  Cherry led CBU with 10 kills and 12 digs, while Blackburn had 27 assists.

The Lady Bucs will be back in action this weekend in the UAH/Country Inn & Suites Invitational hosted by the University of Alabama-Huntsville.  CBU faces West Georgia and Valdosta State again on Friday, while they will take on UAH and Francis Marion Saturday afternoon.
