Final Stats

MEMPHIS--The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs wrapped up a whirlwind first weekend of the season Sunday afternoon as they defeated Mississippi Valley State 3-1 at Canale Arena.

The Lady Bucs (4-1) won 30-25, 30-18, 22-30, 30-9 as they finished their fifth match in just three days.

CBU jumped out to an 8-2 lead in game one and a 7-1 lead in game two before holding off rallies by MVSU (1-1) both games. In the third game, MVSU pulled away late after the game had been tied as late as 16-16. CBU dominated game four, however, as MVSU only scored consecutive points once.

Junior middle blocker Aubrey Pancratz (Chandler, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) collected a career-high 19 kills as she hit .452 for CBU. Freshman outside hitter Michelle Hein (Tempe, Ariz./Corona del Sol HS) also posted a new career highs with 16 kills and five aces. Junior libero Bridget Buckley (Parker, Colo./Chaparral HS) led CBU with 17 digs. Sophomore setter Brenna Blackburn (Sandy, Utah/Brighton HS) had 52 assists to go with 15 digs. Hein and junior outside hitter Jenna Cherry (Covington, La./Covington HS) added 14 digs each.

As a team, the Lady Bucs posted season-highs of 67 kills, 63 assists, and a .303 hitting percentage.

The Lady Bucs will finish their season-opening six-match homestand Tuesday night when they host Crichton at 7 p.m.
