MEMPHIS--Visiting Henderson State slugged seven home runs as they earned a doubleheader sweep of the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Tuesday afternoon at Bland Field, winning 8-2 and 10-4.

HSU (16-8, 8-6 Gulf South Conference) jumped on top in the first inning when Haylee Williams hit a two-run double to left.

A Hannah Shackelford (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) RBI single scored Meagan Shackleford (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) in the second to help the Lady Bucs (10-15, 2-10) pull within one, but Julie Ristich (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) was tagged out after a perfect throw as she tried to score from second.

Two-run homers by Megan Thomas in the fourth, Williams in the fifth, and Jeaniel Pati in the sixth helped HSU stretch the lead to 8-1.

The Lady Bucs finished the scoring in the seventh on a bases-loaded walk by Stephanie Keaton (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS).

Kallie McFatter (Mansfield, Texas/Summit HS) went 2-for-4 for CBU in the opening game.

In the nightcap, Lauren Zavelli (Bartlett, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) scored on an error in the first inning to give the Lady Bucs an early lead.

HSU took the lead for good on a three-run Pati homer in the top of the third. Alicia Wolkmar doubled home another run to put HSU ahead 4-1.

The Lady Bucs scored unearned runs in the third and fourth to close within a run again. Lauren Hearn (Millington, Tenn./Millington HS) led off the third with a walk and scored on a throwing error on Shackelford's sacrifice bunt. Shackelford was tagged out trying to score on the play.

An inning later, Shackleford led off with a single and scored when Ristich reached on an error.

The Lady Reddies put CBU ahead over the final three innings. Tiffany Stiger hit a solo homer in the fifth and Kelcie Glidden drove in Katie Corbell with a groundout in the sixth. HSU blew it open in the seventh as Stiger and Wolkmar each hit two-run homers to give HSU a seven-run lead.

Nikki Dunn (Southaven, Miss./Southaven HS) tripled down the right field line with two outs in the seventh, and she scored the game's final run when Zavelli reached on an error.

Shackleford went 2-for-3 for the Lady Bucs in the second game.

The Lady Bucs will travel to McKenzie, Tenn., tomorrow afternoon as they face Bethel College in a non-conference doubleheader. The Lady Bucs return home on Friday for the first half of a GSC series against Arkansas Tech.
