Final Stats

MEMPHIS--Junior Matt Werakso (Wollongong, Australia) scored his second hat trick of the season to carry the Christian Brothers University Bucs to a 4-3 come-from-behind win at Martin Methodist Friday afternoon.

Werakso scored his first two goals on penalty kicks, the latter tying the game at three in the 84th minute.  He scored the game-winner, his 12th goal of the season and his 11th in the last seven games, in the 86th minute.

The Bucs (6-4-1) drew first blood when Ryan Peel (Mission, B.C./Hatzic Secondary) scored his second goal of the season in the 20th minute after receiving a cross from Rasaq Kuteyi (Lagos, Nigeria/Mansfield [Texas] Summit HS).

The lead wouldn't last long, as Barry McGahon put Martin Methodist (3-6-1) on the board with a goal just over two minutes later.  Alan O'Connor gave the Redhawks a 2-1 lead in the last minute of the first half.

The second half belonged to Werakso.  He scored on a penalty kick in the 78th minute to tie the game at two.  McGahon scored at 83:13 to give MMC their last lead, but Werakso scored on a penalty kick just 44 seconds later, setting up his game-winner in the 86th minute.

The Bucs will return to Signaigo Field Sunday afternoon when they host NAIA powerhouse Brescia at 2 p.m.  The Bearcats are currently No. 25 in the NSCAA's NAIA national rankings.
