Buccaneer Golfers Second After First Day Of CBU Fall Classic

Day One Results

Memphis, TN – Ben James and Josh Bevell are tied for fifth and the Christian Brothers University Buccaneer golf team is tied for second after the first day of the CBU Fall Classic at Colonial Country Club in Germantown.

Cumberland University is the first-day leader with a team score of 304. CBU and Union are tied at 308 followed by Montevallo (312), Bethel (318), Trevecca Nazarene (322), Martin Methodist (324), Freed-Hardeman (325), Lambuth (333), William Carey (337) and Arkansas-Monticello (340).

Rhett Cheatwood is 16th with a first-round 78. Colby Bowen is tied for 20th with an 80, Jay McDonald is tied for 38th with an 84, Nick Holmes is tied for 41st with an 85, Tyler Wright is tied for 45th with an 86 and Mitchell Lingerfelt is 58th with a 92.

Bethel College's Trent Johnson is the first-round leader with the only below par score of a 70. Cumberland's Mike Shinn and Barry Conaster are second and third with a 73 and 74, respectively. Union's Matt Wood is tied for third with a 74. Freed-Hardeman's Brandon Butler, Montevallo's Facundo Casas, as well as James and Bevell are tied for fifth with a first-round 75.

Final round play begins tomorrow morning with final results available sometime around 4 p.m.
