MALIBU, Calif.--Junior Stephen Hill (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) finished 12th place individually to help the Christian Brothers University Bucs knock off two NCAA Division I opponents in the Pepperdine Invitational Saturday morning.  The Bucs finished eighth, while the Lady Bucs finished 12th.

Hill, the first D-II runner to finish, completed the 8k course in 25:18 despite running in soggy conditions throughout.  Junior John Waldorf (South Elgin, Ill./St. Edward HS) finished 51st in 26:58, while freshman Rex Hammonds (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) earned a 56th-place finish in 27:10.

As a team, the Bucs scored 219 points, defeating USC (236) and Pepperdine (249).  UCLA won the race with 39 points, while Cal State Fullerton finished second with 56.

Junior Kelly Summons (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) was the first Lady Buc to finish the women's 6k course, coming in 99th in 26:09.  Freshman Brittley Butler (Dyersburg, Tenn./Dyersburg HS) finished 101st in 26:35, while junior Kristen Kirkland (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) crossed the line a second later in 102nd place.

Cal State Los Angeles won the women's race with 64 points, defeating Cal State Fullerton by just four points.  USC finished third with 75 points.  The Lady Bucs scored 368 points, 38 behind 11th-place Pepperdine.

The CBU cross country teams will be at home the next two weekends.  CBU races Saturday morning in the Rhodes Invitational at Plough Park.  The following Saturday night, Oct. 6, CBU will host the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic at Mike Rose Soccer Complex.
