Darrell Matsui begins his fourth season at Chaminade University. Coach Matsui has more than 20 years of coaching experience, 19 at the collegiate level.

He began his coaching career under Tony Sellitto at Maryknoll High School (HI) in 1978. He was an assistant coach and head JV coach at Maryknoll for 10 seasons before moving on with Sellitto to Hawaii Pacific in 1988. Sellitto retired at the end of the 2001-02 season and passed along the reins of the Hawaii Pacific basketball program to another long-time assistant, Russell Dung. Matsui remained on staff with the Sea Warriors as Dung's top assistant for two seasons, helping guide HPU to a 26-27 finish along the way.

Matsui's duties will include game preparation and scheduling.

He and his wife Amy reside in Honolulu and have one daughter, Chani.
