Maurice Maggiolino is set to begin his fourth season as assistant men's basketball coach at Chaminade University after a very successful first three years. Chaminade has won the PacWest Conference and qualified for the NCAA tournament twice in his three years on staff. The Swords have also had two Pac West Players of the Year and fourteen all-conference selctions during this time. Chaminade has a three year record of 56-28, 55-20 against non-DI opponents. These successes all mark the most success Chaminade has achieved as a NCAA Division II program.
Maggiolino coordinates recruiting and is involved with all day to day operations of the program. Coach Maggiolino also serves as Sports Information Director for Chaminade.
The 2008-09 season will be Maggiolino's seventh year as a college basketball assistant.
A former college player, Maggiolino joined the Silversword staff after a three year stint at SUNY Cortland in Cortland, NY assisting under head coach Tom Spanbauer. The last two seasons ended with post-season invitations for the Cortland Red Dragons, along with 17 and 18 wins respectively. Prior to Cortland, Maggiolino previously assisted with the Ithaca College Men's Basketball program after playing in their program for two years.
Prior to joining the CUH staff, Maggiolino had also served as a head coach in the New York State Empire State Games in both 2004 and 2005. The Central Region Open Men's Basketball Coach, he has coached and coached against numerous players from conferences such as the Big East and ACC.
The Clay, NY native received his bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education from Ithaca College in 2002. Coach Maggiolino received his Master's degree in Physical Education Curriculum and Instruction from SUNY Cortland in 2005.
