Swords Hit the Course Running

Feb. 14, 2006

Waimanalo, HI- In the first event of the spring golf season, CUH competed against HPU and BYU-Hawaii at Olomana Golf Course in Waimanalo. The afternoon was not a typical one, as the golfers were met with hard rain, sun, then strong winds throughout the match.

On the Men's side, the Swords were led by Mike Melillo, who shot a team low 91, followed by Darren Bradley who shot 97 for the round. Finishing out the top four scores for the men were Darren Wong and Joe Schriml who both shot 105 on the day.

On the Women's side, Alicia Castillo shot a 108, five shots off of medaling. Theresa Wene, Lila Sapolu and Brittnee Fonnesbeck also competed for the Lady Swords.

Zak Fearing of HPU won the event for the men, shooting a 75, while Kristine Higa, also of HPU shot an 83 to pace the women.

The Swords are back in action next Monday at Turtle Bay Golf Resort, first tee is set for 12:00 PM.
