Aug. 29, 2007 JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- With her parents in attendance from Washington state, Caitlin Schlegel made sure to put on a solid performance. Schlegel led the Lady Eagles with six kills as Carson-Newman soundly defeated Concord University, 3-0 (30-5, 30-15, 30-22) on Wednesday night in Holt Fieldhouse. C-N (5-0) dominated from start to finish. Vanessa Kinsler led the Lady Eagles with five blocks in the match while Bruna Rasuck had six assists for C-N. Every Lady Eagle saw playing time in Tuesday's match. "This was a great night for everyone to see playing time," head coach Shannon Mincey said. "Caitlin really stepped up and hit the ball hard tonight. Haley Bush and Salem Stepp made a lot of runs with their serves. I'm very appreciative of all the fans coming out and supporting us tonight." Schlegel was pleased with the team's victory and looks forward to this weekend's Labor Day tournament at Holt Fieldhouse. "I think we can get better for this weekend," Schlegel said. "Tonight was a good match to work on plays and runs. It will help us in the long run." The Lady Eagles will take on region foes Lander and Augusta State on Friday, August 31 and Mount Olive and Converse on Saturday, September 1. The Augusta State and Lander matches are at 12:15 and 4:15 on Friday, respectively, while the Mount Olive and Converse matches will take place at 9:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
