JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles used a strong second half to defeat Lincoln Memorial, 3-0 in their final regular season home game of 2007. The Lady Eagles (12-3, 5-2 SAC) outshot LMU, 23-9 in the match, but couldn't muster a shot past LMU keeper Courtney Hollis in the first half. Nikki Brannen ended the scoreless tie with a shot into the far post at the 62nd minute. Two minutes later, Brannen took a pass from Sage Sizemore and scored on a breakaway for a two-goal Lady Eagle advantage. Freshman Morgan Gruenenfelder also got into the act, launching a 20-footer past Hollis at the 77th minute for the final margin of victory. Nyssa Griffin earned the win in goal, stopping four LMU shots. The Lady Eagles wrap up the regular season with two games in Florida against Flagler College on October 20th and Lynn University on October 23. C-N concludes regular season SAC play at Newberry on October 27th.
