Final Stats

Charleston, W. Va. - Two Carson-Newman post players have earned All-Tournament honors in Red Roof Classic after splitting a pair of games on the weekend.

Senior Emily Mason (Rogersville, Ala.) and sophomore Shari Buford (Hampton, Ga.) were named to the squad after helping the Lady Eagles blow by West Virginia State on Saturday.

C-N (6-6, 1-0 SAC) dropped the second game of its trip to West Virginia, falling 79-58 at the University of Charleston on Sunday.

Buford led the Lady Eagles with another double-double, posting 11 points and 10 rebounds. Mason also had 11 points, while adding six boards.

The Lady Eagles struggled with a little bit of everything in the loss.

Junior Ashley Tipton (Knoxville, Tenn.) and sophomore Ashley Kyle (Jefferson CIty, Tenn.) both played battling the flu. Tipton played only 10 minutes and did not attempt a shot, after going 6-of-7 from three-point range in Saturday's win.

Senior Tashea Ledbetter played both games while being slowed by a sprained ankle. She had six points in 17 minutes Sunday.

Buford finished the tourney with 31 points and 16 boards. Mason, who had a double-double Saturday with 11 and 11, notched 22 points and 17 rebounds on the weekend.

The Lady Eagles return to Mossy Creek on Saturday. C-N will host Newberry in its South Atlantic Conference home opener. C-N won its SAC opener on December 1st at Lincoln Memorial, 72-59.

Tipoff against Newberry is at 6 p.m. in Holt Fieldhouse. Men's action is at 8 p.m.
