Carlie Smith Position: Assistant Coach Experience: 2nd Year

Coach Smith begins her second season on the Lady Eagle staff. A native of Clinton, South Carolina, Smith played four years at Newberry College, starting in 99 games and averaging 27 minutes per game. She earned a Bachelor's degree in physical education from Newberry in 2002. She assisted former Newberry head coach Tommy Love for one season before coaching volleyball, basketball, and track at Thornwell High School in Clinton from 2003 through 2004. Smith was an assistant at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, North Carolina for the 2004 and 2005 seasons.

Coach Smith's responsibilities will be in charge of film exchange and help with recruiting.

Coach Smith is the Residence Life Coordinator of Appalachian Commons, the on campus apartment complex.
