CHARLESTON, WV-- Dario Carrasco scored two goals in two games as Carson-Newman recorded two shutouts this Labor Day weekend, 6-0 over Salem International on September 1 and 4-0 versus Alderson-Broaddus on Sunday, September 3. In the win over Salem International, the Eagles dominated from start to finish. Dario Carrasco started the C-N onslaught with a goal at the seven minute mark and Dimas Carrasco rifled a shot past the SIU keeper for a 2-0 Eagle lead just eight minutes into the match. Thomas Ostvold booted in a David Carrasco corner kick at the 15th minute as the Eagles led 3-0 at halftime. In the second half, Phillip Grossmiller's goal at the 58th minute boosted the Eagle lead to 4-0 and David Carrasco scored at the 60th minute off an assist from his brother Dimas. Elverardo Flores scored in the final minute to give the Eagles a six-goal margin of victory. On Sunday, the Eagles and Alderson-Broaddus were scoreless after one half of play, but Omar Cooke ended the scoreless tie with a header off a David Carrasco assist in the 73rd minute. Dario Carrasco scored off a pass from Carlos Maquead for a 2-0 C-N lead. Maqueda got into the scoring act in the 83rd minute, taking a pass from Jussi Wooler and firing a shot past A-B keeper David Harvey for a 3-0 Eagle advantage. Wooler scored the final goal in the 85th minute, scoring a header off a Flores pass to preserve the shutout and give the Eagles their third win of the season.
