June 8, 2007 JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.-- Steve Cishek and Matt Teague realized their Major League Baseball dreams when both were taken as fifth and eight round selections, respectively, in the 2007 MLB Draft on Friday. The Florida Marlins selected Cishek as the 166th overall pick and their first pitcher of the '07 draft. Like Teague, Cishek posted a 3.14 ERA with two wins, three saves and 43 strikeouts in 43 innings pitched. The San Diego Padres selected Teague as the 267th overall pick and was the second left-handed pitcher taken by the Padres in the draft. He posted a 7-2 record as the ace of the '07 C-N pitching staff, leading the Eagles with 74 strikeouts in 86 innings pitched. He walked just 16 batters all season and none in four of his last five starts. "Matt and Steve are two great kids who've worked hard to see this day," head coach Tom Griffin said. "They are mature, disciplined kids and we are very excited about their future." Teague and Cishek helped the Eagles to a 36-20 record in 2007 as the team won the South Atlantic Conference Tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Division II South Regional tournament in Tampa, Florida.
