April 27, 2007 INDIANAPOLIS -- The Carson-Newman Eagles have been ranked third in the latest NCAA Division II South Region poll released late Thursday. The Eagles (36-18) moved up one spot after winning the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament to earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Tampa is ranked first followed by SAC foe Tusculum, the Eagles, and Lynn University of Florida is ranked fourth. Florida Gulf Coast, Florida Southern, and Florida Tech are fifth, sixth, and seventh, respectively, while Catawba is ranked eighth. The Eagles completed the 2007 regular season with a 3-2 win over Brevard on April 24 and now await word on who their first round opponent will be in the NCAA Tournament.
