14 Cal Players in San Francisco Pro-Am

June 30, 2005

BERKELEY, Calif. - California women's basketball is well represented in this summer's San Francisco Pro-Am League. Fourteen current and former Golden Bears are spread out over four of the league's seven teams.

The San Francisco team features junior guard Sarah Pool, sophomore forward Krista Foster and former Cal player Jacqueline Sanchez.

The Contra Costa squad showcases former Cal All-Pac-10 players Leigh Gregory and Kristin Iwanaga and Olga Volkova.

The East Bay is loaded with current Cal players, including all five members of the Bears' nationally No. 7-ranked incoming class - Devanei Hampton, Alexis Gray-Lawson, Jene Morris, Shantrell Sneed and Ashley Walker. Senior forward Renee Wright and sophomore center Jessica Lawson, a 2004-05 Pac-10 All-Freshman selection, also star on the team.

Junior guard Keanna Levy is the only athlete with Cal ties on the South Bay team.

The season began June 18 and ends Aug. 13 with the championship game. All contests are played at Kezar Stadium (corner of Stanyan and Waller Streets in San Francisco). Admission is free to everyone.

Play continues Saturday, July 2 with Golden State against Contra Costa County at noon, followed by South Bay vs. East Bay at 2 p.m and Marin vs. Bay Tide at 4 p.m.
