McNeill Captures NCAA Pommel Horse Title

Norman, Okla - California's Tim McNeill captured his first NCAA individual event title on the pommel horse Saturday night at the 2006 NCAA men's gymnastics individual event finals, being held at the University of Oklahoma. Colin Christ and Kyson Bunthuwong also earned All-America honors, as Saturday night's competition marked the end of the Bears' season.

The three Bear competitors qualified for the individual event finals after finishing among the top 10 competitors on their respective events at last night's team finals.

McNeill, a sophomore from Falls Church, Va., won the pommel horse and became a two-time NCAA All-American on the apparatus after recording a 9.350. Fellow sophomore Christ, also became a two-time NCAA All-American, after recording a 9.387 on the high bar, taking fifth place.

Bunthuwong, a freshman from El Ceritto, Calif., earned NCAA All-America honors on the parallel bars, after recording an 8.125, earning him a tenth place finish.

Cal placed fifth at last night's NCAA team finals and finish the season with a 15-13 overall record.
