BERKELEY - Shortstop Michael Brady wrapped up his first Muscle Milk Athlete of the Week honor on Saturday with one swing of the bat. The sophomore had an excellent weekend in helping the Golden Bear baseball team to a three-game sweep of Pac-10 rival USC, but his dramatic game-winning walk-off home run to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning on Saturday was the clear highlight of the weekend for the Bears. The Laguna Beach product added another home run against the Trojans with a solo shot on Sunday and finished the series 4-for-10 with two home runs and three RBI.
Other highlights for Brady have included a career-day in Cal's 13-9 upset of Arizona State on Apr. 29, when he went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in the sixth inning, and a two-run homer in the eighth inning - the first home runs of his college career.
For the season, Brady is hitting .278 with four homers and 26 runs batted in.
This weekend, Cal has a crucial series at Washington as the Golden Bears are looking to play their way into the NCAA Tournament. The Bears have won five in a row and 11 of their last 17 and currently have a 28-24 overall record and 11-10 in Pac-10 play to rank fourth in the league.
