INDIANAPOLIS - California sophomore Inika McPherson took fourth place in the women's high jump final with a leap of 6-00 (1.83 meters) on Saturday at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at IU Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium at IUPUI. Former Golden Bears star Grace Upshaw won the women's long jump title with a mark of 22-01.50 (6.74 meters).
McPherson had taken sixth place in the high jump at the recent NCAA Outdoor Championships.
In the women's hammer throw final in Indianapolis, Cal senior Carrie Johnson placed 13th with a toss of 208-11 (63.67), while in the first round of the men's 110-meter hurdles, junior Thomas Mack was 24th with a time of 14.03. He did not advance to Sunday's semifinal round.
Other former Bears competed on Saturday, with Antonette Carter taking 12th in the women's long jump with a mark of 20-05.00 (6.22) and Rhuben Williams tying for 10th in the men's shot put final with a toss of 62-03.25 (18.98).
On Sunday, the final day of the meet, Bears junior Ed Wright will vie for the men's high jump title in the final at 12 p.m. ET, Cal senior Kevin Davis will run in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase final scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET and Bears junior Alysia Johnson will compete in the women's 800-meter run final at 1:50 p.m. ET.
