Dec. 15, 2007
Tulsa, Okla. - Senior Julia Silva picked another honor as she was voted American Volleyball Coaches' Association's All-America Honorable Mention. It is the third consecutive year Silva has earned membership on the squad. The two-time Conference USA Setter of the Year, Silva helped lead TU to its first ever NCAA Tournament and C-USA Tournament Championships in 2007. Not only did she post 10 triple-doubles this season, Silva had a double-double in 31 of TU's 36 matches. In four matches this season, she was one kill away from a triple-double while she was one dig away in from another triple-double. Silva earned C-USA Setter of the Week six times this season, the most ever in league history. Those awards are in addition to being named to the all-tournament team in all five tournaments TU has participated in this season and being named MVP in three of those tournaments. Silva's 302 kills this season ranked third on the team, as did her 399.0 points. Her 436 digs and 35 aces rank third and fourth on the squad; while her 109 total blocks, 94 block assists and 15 solo blocks ranked second on the squad in 2007.
