Cincinnati's DuPont Named Verizon Academic All-American

CINCINNATI, Ohio---University of Cincinnati volleyball standout Julie DuPont (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) has been named to the Verizon Academic All-America third team, one of only two sophomores to receive the honor.

DuPont is a communications disorders major carrying a 3.93 GPA. The sophomore has started all 25 matches for the Bearcats this season, leading the team and ranking fourth in Conference USA with 5.26 kills per game. DuPont has led the team in kills in all but three matches this season and ranks second on the team with 2.85 digs per game. Off the court, DuPont has been active with CPAWS, Cincinnati’s student-athlete activity activities group, while also participating in Habitat for Humanity last year.

This year’s team was voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To qualify, student-athletes must hold at least sophomore status, own a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2, and be either a starter or key reserve for their team.
