Louisville earns third NCAA Volleyball Sweet Sixteen appearance with 3-1 win over Missouri

Bing Sun led Louisville to its third Sweet Sixteen appearnce with 18 kills, 12 digs and four blocks in a 3-1 win over Missouri in the second round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament in Columbia, Mo. The victory means the Cardinals will have the home-court advantage in the next round as they are scheduled to host a regional next weekend.

Missouri was outhit .355 to .289 and outblocked 10.5 to seven. U of L had three aces, while the Tigers had 13 service errors.

The Cardinals put four players in double-digit kills, including Lena Ustymenko's 18. Ustymenko also recorded two aces and 12 digs. Jennifer Hoffman had 10 kills and five blocks, while teammate Ana Yartseva had 13 kills and a match-high 18 digs.

With the 30-26, 22-30, 30-25, 30-25 win, U of L improved to 30-2 overall and notched its 22nd straight win. Louisville will next play at the Kentucky International Convention Center on Dec. 10-11 against No. 1 seed Nebraska.
