No. 20 Cincinnati dropped its last Conference USA match of the year, a four-game heartbreaker at USF, while No. 19 Louisville defeated UAB, 3-1, on Saturday night. UC and Louisville share the C-USA regular season title after both finishing with a 12-1 record in conference play. The C-USA Tournament bracket will be released later Sunday morning.
Cold hitting was the story of the night for UC as only Julie DuPont (.263) hit above the .200 mark for the Bearcats. DuPont led all players in the match with 28 kills on a season-high 72 attempts. As cold as UC was hitting, the Bulls were just the opposite as they finished at .279 for the evening. Shameka Mitchell scorched UC for 21 kills on .385 hitting, with teammate Fran Pozzi right behind, posting 20 kills and hitting .277.
The Cardinals, who only league loss was against Cincinnati earlier in the season, was led by Sonjan Percan, firing away 22 kills. Lena Ustymenko and Bing Sun, followed with 18 and 12 kills respectively.
