With only two more weekends of conference action, the battle for the C-USA regular season title heats up. South Florida remains undefeated with a 9-0 mark and Cincinnati, who ranks second in the league standings with an 8-1 record, currently boasts a conference season-high 10-match win streak; Gear up for another exciting weekend of C-USA Volleyball in this week's notebook.
C-USA CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK Cincinnati's JULIE DUPONT and Houston's JENNY TANNEBERGER share C-USA Player of the Week honors for the period ending Nov. 3.
JULIE DUPONT, Cincinnati So., OH, Muskego, Wis. (Muskego)
Cincinnati's JULIE DUPONT posted back-to-back 20-plus kill performances to lead the Bearcats to a pair of C-USA victories over Memphis and Saint Louis last weekend. She averaged 6.29 kills, 3.0 digs and 1.43 blocks per game, while hitting .306 for the week. Against Memphis, DuPont nearly recorded the fourth triple-double in school history, posting 24 kills, 13 digs and eight blocks. With its two conference wins, UC has now extended its win streak to 10 matches and has not lost since Sept. 27.
JENNY TANNEBERGER, Houston Sr., MH, San Antonio, Texas (Texas)
Houston's JENNY TANNEBERGER posted back-to-back double-double performances in wins over DePaul and Marquette. She averaged 6.0 kills and 3.13 digs per game, while racking up a .372 attack percentage. Against the Golden Eagles, Tanneberger notched 25 kills and only three errors for a .361 hitting percentage, while adding 15 digs and six blocks. For the week, she totaled 48 kills and only five errors for a .372 attack percentage.

SAINT LOUIS SPOILS U OF L AGAIN With a 25 kill performance from COLLEEN HUNTER, Saint Louis posted a 3-1 win over Louisville on Nov. 1 and snapped the Cardinals' nine-match win streak. Prior to Friday's loss, Louisville had not lost a regular-season conference match since Oct. 20, 2001, when the Cards fell to Saint Louis, 3-2.
C-USA NOTABLES - With wins over Memphis and Saint Louis, Cincinnati currently boasts a conference season-high 10-match win streak. The Bearcats opened the conference season with a loss to Louisville on Sept. 27. The Bearcats have also not lost a home match this season, notching a 9-0 mark at the Shoemaker Center.
- South Florida has held its C-USA opponents to a conference-low .113 hitting percentage this season. Louisville ranks second with a .147 opponent attack percentage.
- South Florida, Cincinnati and Saint Louis remain perfect at home in conference play. South Florida is 5-0 at home, while Cincinnati and Louisville are 4-0.

C-USA'S CAREER PERFORMANCES After posting 15 kills against Northeastern on Sept. 5, South Florida's MICHELLE COLLIER captured the league's career record in kills. Collier currently has a total of 2,480 kills in 440 games played. On Oct. 22, Saint Louis' COLLEEN HUNTER surpassed DePaul's Stephanie Bishop (1998-01) for second place on C-USA all-time kills list. Hunter became only the third player in league history to reach 2,000 career kills. She now has 2,139 kills in 472 matches played.
Cincinnati's TRISH LADUSAW broke the C-USA all-time digs record with a total of 1,948 in 439 games played. She surpassed former Blue Demon Stephanie Bishop (1998-01), who notched 1,842 career digs in 493 games played.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL Here are some of the top individual performers in C-USA from Oct. 28-Nov. 3.
BINNY FLYNN, LOU: Tallied a total of 34 kills for the week, including a 21-kill performance against the Billikens. She finished with 11 blocks and 14 digs, while hitting .259 for the week.
SHANNON DEVINE, MAR: Picked up 12 kills and contributed six digs in a three-game win over TCU. She also posted her eighth double-double performance of the season with 14 kills and 13 digs against Houston.
SHEILA NEBA, MEM: Hit .375 with 22 kills, including a season-best 12 kills at Cincinnati last weekend.
SHAMEKA MITCHELL, USF: Led the team with a .372 hitting percentage and 10 blocks assists last week. She compiled 11 kills and a .450 hitting percentage against UAB, while adding 10 blocks and one dig.
BRIDGET FILES, USM: Tallied 27 kills, 14 digs and four blocks to lead the Golden Eagles to a 1-1 record for the weekend. She averaged 3.86 kills and 2.0 digs.
TORI BARLOW, TCU: Earned her 10th career double-double with 56 assists and 10 digs against DePaul. For the week, she finished with 10 kills, 84 assists and 17 digs.
COACHING MILESTONES Southern Miss head coach SANTIAGO RESTREPO is only two wins away from posting his 100th career victory. He currently holds a 98-63 career record. Saint Louis' MARILYN NOLEN is only four victories away from becoming the third Division 1 coach to tally 800 wins at four-year institutions. She has a career record of 796-335-12 in 31 years of coaching.
HUNTER AMONG THE FIRST Saint Louis' COLLEEN HUNTER became the first player in C-USA history to reach at least 1,500 kills, 1,000 digs and 500 blocks in a career. Last weekend, she tallied seven blocks against DePaul and five digs against Marquette to reach this milestone. She currently has 2,139 kills, 1,028 digs and 511 blocks in her career
FOR THE RECORD BOOKS On. Oct. 12, Houston's JENNY TANNEBERGER tied a C-USA record for kills in a match, notching a career-high 41 against Saint Louis. South Florida's MICHELLE COLLIER was previously the lone record-holder, after nabbing 41 kills on Nov. 10, 2000. C-USA NOTEBOOK
CHARLOTTE: Charlotte split a pair of conference matches, defeating Southern Miss, 3-1, but falling to Tulane last weekend. With their win over the Golden Eagles, they have now compiled five wins in C-USA play, matching their total for all of last year. With 11 kills and 13 digs versus the Golden Eagles, COURTNEY BURG has 15 double-doubles this season. ABBEY SZLANFUCHT compiled her eighth double-double of the season after her 18-kill and 19-dig outing versus Southern Miss. The 49ers play at Saint Louis and Memphis next weekend.
CINCINNATI: The Bearcats extended their win streak to a conference-high 10 matches last weekend, defeating Memphis and Cincinnati. RACHEL TORBLAA notched a career-best 18 kills and 11 blocks against the Tigers. As a team, Cincinnati recorded a season-best 17.5 blocks per game. JULIE DUPONT posted back-to-back kill performances with 24 kills against Memphis and 20 against Saint Louis. She nearly recorded the fourth triple-double in school history with 24 kills, 13 digs and eight blocks against the Tigers. Cincinnati returns to action on Friday when it takes on TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
DE PAUL: DePaul dropped matches against Houston and TCU last weekend. KATIE ENGEL led the Blue Demons with a match-high 25 kills against TCU for a .302 hitting percentage. She also tallied 21 kills and 16 digs against Houston. DePaul faces South Florida on Friday, before taking on UAB on Saturday. EAST CAROLINA: The Pirates suffered losses against Tulane and Southern Miss last weekend. PAM FERRIS tallied a match-high 12 digs, while adding five kills and one service ace. East Carolina will next take on Saint Louis and Memphis this weekend.
HOUSTON: Houston notched a 2-0 record for the weekend, downing DePaul and Marquette. JENNY TANNEBERGER posted two double-double performances to lead the Cougars. She averaged six kills and 3.13 digs per game, while racking up a .372 attack percentage. She currently leads the team in kills (417), attack percentage (.344) and total blocks (84). As a team, Houston leads the conference in digs with 18.39 per game. The Cougars will look to extend their three-match win streak when it faces Louisville on Friday and Cincinnati on Sunday.
LOUISVILLE: The Cardinals split a pair of matches last weekend, falling 3-0 to Saint Louis, before sweeping Memphis. The loss to the Billikens not only snapped a nine-match win streak for the Cards, but was also the first loss in regular season conference play since Oct. 20, 2001. BING SUN compiled 21 kills and nine digs against Saint Louis. For the week, she posted 34 kills, 14 digs and five service aces. A preseason all-conference selection, SONJA PERCAN, who has been medically redshirted for the 2002 season. Percan suffered an ankle injury in the second game of the Georgia Tech Tournament on Sept. 7. Louisville returns to action this weekend when it takes on Houston on Friday and TCU on Saturday.
MARQUETTE: Marquette defeated TCU, but fell to Houston last weekend. SHANNON DEVINE tallied her eighth double-double of the year with 14 kills and 13 digs against the Cougars. Junior GEMMA GREER posted a total of 90 assists to improve her season total to 908. She currently ranks nine on the school's seasonal chart. JESSICA KLEIN posted a season-high 19 kills against Houston, marking her fourth double-figure kill performance out of the last five outings. AGA NIEMCEZEWSKA has a five-match streak of double figure attacks heading into this week's matchup against UAB.
MEMPHIS: Memphis dropped matches against Cincinnati and Louisville last weekend. The Tigers were without head coach CARRIE YERTY, who is close to her delivery date of her second child and was unable to travel. HEATHER WATTS averaged 14.57 assists in the Tigers' two matches. She currently ranks seventh on Memphis' career list with 1,342 assists. Freshman LAUREN BERG needs only 34 digs to tie for 10th best on the Tigers' single season list. Memphis hosts Charlotte on Friday and East Carolina on Saturday.
SAINT LOUIS: The Billikens snapped Louisville's nine-match win streak with a 3-1 victory over the Cards. However, Saint Louis suffered a 3-0 loss to the Bearcats the following night. COLLEEN HUNTER posted a match high 25 kills and only seven errors for a .367 attack percentage. She also tallied a total of seven blocks against the Cards. She currently ranks second in the league with blocks (1.41 pg) and third with an average of 5.33 kills per game. LAUREN BOISSEVAIN also charted a career-best 30 assists, while ASHLEY HUNTER tallied a career-high six blocks. Saint Louis hosts East Carolina on Friday and Charlotte on Saturday.
SOUTH FLORIDA: South Florida remains undefeated in conference play, after downing UAB, 3-0 last weekend. The Bulls are now 23-5 overall and 9-0 in conference play. MICHELLE COLLIER tallied a team-high 22 kills, while SHAMEKA MITCHELL posted 11 kills for a .450 hitting percentage, while adding a team-high four blocks. USF's 9-0 record in conference play marks the best start for the Bulls since 2000. That season, they went on to claim a 15-1 record and 28-6 overall mark. If they continue to win in conference play, USF could become only the second team in conference history to post an undefeated league mark. In the first year of C-USA play, the Cardinals notched a 12-0 conference record in 1995. The Bulls host DePaul on Friday.
SOUTHERN MISS: The Golden Eagles went 1-1 on the week with a win at East Carolina and a loss at Charlotte. The win at ECU was the fifth conference win of the season and the most since 1998. Freshman MELISSA VOTRUBA recorded four aces and 10 kills last weekend. AMY TRUONG recorded her 44th ace of the season. She has posted at least one ace in six of her last seven matches. BRIDGET FILES tallied 27 kills, 14 digs and four blocks for the week.
TCU: The Horned Frogs split a pair of conference matches last weekend, defeating DePaul, but falling to Marquette. TORI BARLOW compiled 56 assists against the Blue Demons to rank her 10th on TCU's single-season list for assists. She has led the Frogs in assists in 23 of 25 matches this season. TCU hosts Cincinnati on Friday and Louisville on Saturday.
TULANE: Tulane went 2-0 last weekend with victories over Charlotte and East Carolina. BRITNEY HURST continued to lead the Green Wave, nearly posting her third 30-plus kill performance of the season, falling just one kill shy of 30 against the 49ers. She totaled a team-high 17 kills in a 3-0 win over ECU. For the first time this season, Hurst leads the conference with 5.44 kills per game. As a team, Tulane held the Pirates to a .018 hitting percentage and rank third in the conference in opponent attack percentage (.180). The Green Wave returns to action on Tuesday when it takes on Southern.
UAB: UAB fell to South Florida, 3-1 and Central Florida, 3-2 last weekend. Junior MARTINA SHIELDS recorded her team-leading 10th double-double of the season with 16 kills and 14 digs to go along with a .324 hitting percentage and three total blocks.
