IRVING, Texas - Conference USA has named Houston's Justine Farmer its Offensive Player of the Week, while UAB's Nevena Stefanov and Rice's Tracey Lam collects Setter and Defensive Player of the Week accolades, respectively.

Farmer led the Cougars to a pair of C-USA wins, en route to establishing the league's second most kills for a single match with 31 against UTEP Sunday.

With 56 assists in each match, Stefanov helped the Blazers to a 3-0 record this past week.

Lam posted a career-best 27 digs against Tulane, the best tally by an Owl this season. For the weekend, she averaged an impressive 6.50 DPG.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JUSTINE FARMER, HOUSTON
5-10, Jr., OH, El Paso, Texas (Americas)
Farmer led the Cougars to a pair of C-USA wins, en route to establishing the league's second most kills for a single match with 31 against UTEP Sunday. She also had 15 digs, for her 12th double-double of the season, and had 33 points. Against Tulane, Farmer downed 20 kills and had 13 digs for 22 points and produced a .321 hitting percentage, her third best of the season. Farmer leads the league in KPG with a 5.42 average and, through 18 games, she tops the Cougars in kills (399), attempts (1081), and digs (245). Houston swept Tulane and downed UTEP in five games. UH is 4-1 in five-game matches. This is Farmer's second C-USA Offensive Player of the week honor.

SETTER OF THE WEEK
NEVENA STEFANOV, UAB
6-0, Jr., S, Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro (Belgrade Athletic)
Stefanov helped the Blazers to a 3-0 record this past week with victories over Mercer, 3-1, at league leader Marshall, 3-2, and at East Carolina, 3-1. She posted 56 assists in all three triumphs for an average of 12.92 per game. Stefanov helped UAB earn at 3-2 victory on the road at Marshall on Friday by posting her fifth double-double of the season with 56 assists and 10 digs. Stefanov also served seven aces during the week. The junior currently ranks third in the league in assists per game, dishing out 12.16, and fifth in service aces, landing 0.50 per game. This is Stefanov's second C-USA Setter of the Week in the last three weeks.With the two conference wins last week, UAB is in a three-way tie for third place in C-USA standings.

 

 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TRACEY LAM, RICE
5-6, Fr., DS, San Francisco, Calif. (Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep)
Lam posted a career-best 27 digs against Tulane, the best tally by an Owl this season. For the weekend, she averaged an impressive 6.50 DPG, an improvement of 2.71 over her average prior to Friday's match. Additionally, Lam doubled her aces average, finishing with 0.67 SAPG to lead Rice. Her performance against the Green Wave marked the fourth time in the last five matches for Lam to exceed 20 digs in a match. The Owls went 1-1 on the week with a 3-0 win over UTEP and a 3-1 loss to Tulane. This is Lam's first C-USA Defensive Player of the Week honor.
