    No. 22 Louisville (6-0) and DePaul (5-0) remain undefeated in conference play; With her 32-kill performance against South Florida, Sonja Percan of Louisville earns Player of the Week honors; Read about these and other accomplishments in this week's volleyball notes.

    PLAYER OF THE WEEK
    SONJA PERCAN, OH, Louisville

    SONJA PERCAN of Louisville is the Conference USA Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 7. Percan posted 58 kills, 25 digs and a .328 hitting percentage to lead the Cardinals over UAB and South Florida last weekend. Percan tied her own school record, blasting 32 kills against South Florida, while also setting a career-high in digs (18) against UAB. She currently ranks third in the conference in kills, averaging 5.07 per game.

    AMONG THE RANKED
    For the third consecutive week, Louisville is ranked in the AVCA/USA Today rankings. The Cardinals moved up one spot to No. 22 and it is the highest ranking for the Cardinals since the end of the 1998 season, when they finished No. 21. Louisville currently stands in first place with a 6-0 conference and 11-1 overall record. The Cardinals extended their 11-game winning streak after defeating UAB, 3-1 and South Florida, 3-0 this past weekend.

    THIS WEEK'S KEY MATCHUPS
    - Cincinnati (5-1) will look to upset either Louisville or DePaul as it visits the Cardinals on Wednesday and hosts the Blue Demons on Friday. After three weeks of C-USA action, Louisville (6-0) and DePaul (5-0) are the only schools with perfect records in conference play.

    - Saint Louis takes on two teams this week whose head coaches have ties to the Billikens. Indiana is coached by Katie Weismiller, who was at the SLU helm from 1989-90, and Southern Miss is led by former Billiken assistant Santiago Restrepo (1998-00). The Billikens meet the Hoosiers on Tuesday and the Golden Eagles on Saturday.

    LEADING THE CONFERENCE
    DePaul continues to lead the conference in several categories. As a team, the Blue Demons are ranked first in assists (16.04 pg), kills (17.76 pg), blocks (2.55 pg) and digs (18.89)

    With her 36-kill performance against Louisville last week, South Florida's MICHELLE COLLIER remains in first in the conference rankings with 5.58 kills per game. Houston's JENNIFER WITTENBURG is in second with an average of 5.57 kills per game.

    East Carolina's AMANDA RUDOLPH leads C-USA with an average of 3.70 blocks per game.

    WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
    Here are some of the top individual performers in C-USA from Oct. 1-8:

    BONITA WISE, CIN: Spearheaded an outstanding defensive effort with a career-high four solo blocks against South Florida.

    KATIE ENGEL, DPU: Posted team-highs in kills (18) and hitting percentage (.444) against Charlotte.

    JENNIFER WITTENBURG, HOU: Recorded a season-best .469 attack percentage against Saint Louis, while also posting her 21st double-double performance with 19 kills and 11 digs.

    VESNA GRBAVAC, MAR: Posted a match-high 26 kills, hit a match-best .392 percentage, and tied for the team lead with 13 digs. She currently leads the team with a .420 kills per game mark.

    GINGER GARRETT, MEM: Was the only Tiger to record double-digit kills against Houston. She currently ranks fifth on the Tigers' all-time attempt list with 3,406.
    DOMIKIA SZABO, TCU: She captured her second and third double-double performances against Memphis (15 kills, 11 digs) and Saint Louis (21 kills, 12 digs).

    BRITNEY HURST, TUL: Tallied a match-high 27 kills and a .440 attack percentage against Southern Miss and also notched 19 digs, three blocks and one ace.

    RACHEL JOBES, USF: Recorded a team-high 12 kills and a .765 hitting percentage against Cincinnati.

    KELLY TRIBBLE, USM: Tallied 34 kills in two matches while hitting .307 for the week. She moved into fifth on the Golden Eagles all-time list with 1,118 kills.

    C-USA NOTEBOOK

    CHARLOTTE: Charlotte dropped both of its matches this past weekend, falling at DePaul (3-1) and Marquette (3-0). KATHLEEN RAMOS notched 23 kills and 15 digs, while MEGAN MOSNESS chipped in 55 assists against the Blue Demons. Ramos leads the 49ers in kills (189) and digs (175) this season. Charlotte plays the final match of its six-game road swing Tuesday against East Carolina.

    CINCINNATI: The Bearcats extended their win streak to six matches after sweeping South Florida and UAB. Over the weekend, Cincinnati held South Florida and UAB to .117 and .127 hitting percentages, respectively. Junior TRISH LADUSAW posted 14 kills for the weekend, compiling 1,272 career kills. She is now only 31 shy of breaking the UC all-time record. The Bearcats remain on the road when they take on Louisville on Wednesday.

    DE PAUL: DePaul remains undefeated in conference play, notching wins over Charlotte, 3-1 and ECU, 3-0. The Blue Demons currently hold a 5-0 league mark, their best conference start in school history. KATIE ENGEL led DePaul this past weekend, posting 25 kills, 14 digs and a .447 hitting percentage. She is second on the team with 175 kills this season.

    EAST CAROLINA: The Pirates fell to Marquette, 3-0 and DePaul, 3-0 last weekend. ALEXIS JONES led East Carolina, posting eight kills and a .235 hitting percentage against DePaul. Senior ROBYN DREWES, who tallied six blocks against Marquette, currently leads the conference, averaging 1.38 block per game.

    HOUSTON: After suffering a 3-0 loss to No. 12 Hawaii last week, the Cougars bounced back with wins over Saint Louis, 3-0 and Memphis, 3-0. JENNIFER WITTENBURG led Houston for the weekend, posting 35 kills, 16 digs and a 393 hitting percentage. JANE ANNE KARASEK also tallied 10 kills and a match-high 13 digs for her sixth career double-double. JENNY TANNEBERGER notched 13 kills with only two errors in 23 attempts for a match-high .478 attack percentage against Memphis.

    LOUISVILLE: The No. 22 Cardinals remain unbeaten in C-USA play, defeating UAB (3-1) and South Florida (3-2). SONJA PERCAN led the Cardinals, posting a 32-kill performance against South Florida. STACEY MERCER also added 13 kills and hitting .632 against the Bulls. On Oct. 10, the Cardinals' 11-game win streak will be on the line when they meet Cincinnati, who currently holds a six-game win streak.

    MARQUETTE: Marquette swept East Carolina, 3-0 and Charlotte, 3-0 last weekend. Their current four-match win streak is the longest since the second half of the 1999 season. The Golden Eagles held Charlotte to a -.043 hitting percentage, a season-low by a Marquette opponent. Senior VESNA GRBAVAC recorded a match-high 26 kills and tied for the team lead with 13 digs. Against East Carolina, she finished with nine attacks and tied the team-high with 10 digs. JENNIFER AMOBI posted a team-high 10 kills against East Carolina, marking her eighth match of double-digit attacks this season.

    MEMPHIS: Memphis defeated TCU, 3-1 but fell to Houston, 3-0 last weekend. GINGER GARRATT led the Tigers, posting 12 kills and 12 digs against the Horned Frogs. She also was the only Tiger to record double-digit kills against Houston with 16. With the win over TCU, Memphis equaled its C-USA win total from last season, when the Tigers finished 3-13 in league play.

    SAINT LOUIS: The Billikens suffered losses against Houston, 3-0 and TCU, 3-1. COLLEEN HUNTER led Saint Louis, posting a match-high 22 kills and eight digs against the Horned Frogs, while compiling a team-high 10 kills against the Cougars. Hunter has now moved into sixth place on Saint Louis' career kills list with 1,246. The Billikens play host to Indiana on Oct. 9.

    SOUTH FLORIDA: MICHELLE COLLIER posted strong performances over the weekend, but the Bulls still fell short against Cincinnati and Louisville. Collier posted a conference-high 36 kills against the Cardinals, while also chipping in 17 digs. KELLY MATHIASMEIER also added 13 kills, 18 digs and four blocks.

    SOUTHERN MISS: Southern Miss dropped a 3-2 decision against Tulane on Oct. 5. The Golden Eagles' ANDREA BUSH tallied a team-high 21 kills and hit .366 against the Green Wave. KELLY TRIBBLE followed with 17 kills, 14 digs and four blocks. BRYNN OLSSON recorded her third and fourth consecutive matches with double-digit digs last week. Olsson leads the team with 160 digs and nine matches with double-digit performances

    TCU: TCU ended a five-game losing streak, defeating Saint Louis, 3-1 on Oct. 6. DOMINIKA SZABO posted 53 kills, 29 digs and a .344 hitting percentage last week. She also claimed her third consecutive double-double performance with 21 kills and 12 digs against the Billikens. MARCI KING also had 16 kills and 15 digs. TCU takes on Southwest Texas State on Oct. 9.

    TULANE: BRITNEY HURST had a match-high 27 kills and a .440 attack percentage in Tulane's 3-2 win against Southern Miss. She also tallied 19 digs, three blocks and one ace, while teammate ERIN DOBYANSKI had 20 kills and nine digs. With its win over the Golden Eagles, Tulane has now extended its win streak to six matches and is only three wins away from tying its most wins in conference play.

    UAB: UAB fell to Louisville, 3-1 and Cincinnati, 3-0 last weekend. KAREN BOYD led the Blazers with a team-high 15 kills and a .312 attack percentage. MARTINA SHIELDS posted a strong defensive attack with eight digs, while KRISTI LEE compiled 13 kills and four blocks against the Cardinals.
