IRVING, Texas - Three Knights recorded double-doubles as the UCF volleyball team won its fourth-consecutive match on Saturday, defeating Montana State, 3-2 (29-31, 31-29, 30-22, 29-31, 15-9), as part of the UCF Fall Invitational. The Knights (6-5) went undefeated at the event. Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.) recorded 18 kills and a match-high 26 digs in the win. Teammate Blaire Bruggemeyer (Burleson, Texas) totaled a match-best 68 assists to go with 14 digs for the Knights. Jenny Heppert (Lawrence, Kan.) rounded out the trio of UCF players with a double-double as she totaled 15 kills and 10 total blocks. The hosts hit .421 in the decisive fifth game, compared to -.053 for the Bobcats, who fell to 1-10 with the loss. In the final game, Bruggemeyer dished out nine assists. Heppert also recorded eight service aces as the Knights had 15 for the contest. UCF's Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas) paced all players with 21 kills. Heppert was named the tournament's MVP. She was joined by Serna on the all-tournament team. North Florida's Kaley Read, Florida Atlantic's Katie Arvidson, Central Michigan's Whitney Evers and Viren all garnered spots on the all-tournament squad. Tulane rolled over Columbia, 3-0, but the No. 10 Wisconsin Badgers topped the Green Wave Saturday at the LMU Hilton LAX Invitational at Gersten Pavilion. Tulane, which receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25 this week at number 41, is now 8-2. Sophomore libero Jenn Miller, who recorded 55 digs in three matches, including 17 vs Columbia, was named to the All-Tournament team. In Tulane's 3-0 win over Columbia, Stephanie Stromath, a redshirt freshman from nearby Manhattan Beach, California, turned in a career-high seven kills on a .600 hitting percentage to go with a career-best four blocks. Sophomore Ksenija Vlaskovic led Tulane in kills for the fourth-straight match with 11. Junior outside hitter Bridget Wells chipped in 10 kills and hit .444. Sophomore setter Rachel Lindelow recorded her second 30+ assist match with 30.
The Green Wave hit .326 for the match, including .545 in game three, while holding the Lions to .061. Earlier in the day, Wisconsin - with three front line players 6-foot-3 or taller - used their height advantage up front to out-block Tulane 11-6 and improve to 7-1 on the season with a 3-0 (30-27, 30-22,30-27) win. Ksenija Vlaskovic , a 6-1 outside hitter, led Tulane with 12 kills. Fellow 6-1 outside hitter Sara Radosevic added eight kills and 11 digs. Six-foot middle blocker Jen Linder added seven kills while hitting .600 for the match with three assisted blocks.
