Sept. 4: C-USA Volleyball Players of the Week

IRVING, Texas - Conference USA had several solid volleyball performances last week, but earning C-USA Players of the Week honors were four standout athletes. SMU's Natalie Peters and Stefanie Kons picked up offensive and co-setter of the week honors, respectively. Tulsa's Julia Silva repeated her setter of the week merit, while UAB's Brianna Galvin earned her second career defensive player of the week accolade. Peters and Kons led SMU to the Red Raider Round Up title with all-tournament performances. Silva picked up the fourth triple-double in NCAA and first in C-USA this season with 31 assists, 16 digs and 14 kills against North Carolina Central. Galvin hustled for a C-USA best 69 digs over 15 games last week, for an average of 4.67 DPG. Stefanie Kons, SMU 5-10, Jr., S, Austin, Texas (Westlake) Kons captures her first C-USA Setter of the Week accolade after guiding the Mustangs to the Red Raider Round Up title. Kons was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 11.30 APG and 2.50 DPG. She also was credited with eight block assists and six aces. Kons missed having two double-doubles by one dig. |
