USF's Domingos Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Ale Domingos, a senior setter for the University of South Florida volleyball team, has been awarded a postgraduate scholarship by the NCAA, it was announced Wednesday.

The scholarship, which is awarded to 58 athletes (29 men and 29 women) who participated in fall sports, totals $6,900.

According to the NCAA, to qualify for an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, a student-athlete must have an overall grade-point average of 3.200 (on a 4.00 scale) or its equivalent and must have performed with distinction as a member of the varsity team in the sport in which the student-athlete was nominated. The student-athlete must have behaved, both on and off the field, in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete, the institution and intercollegiate athletics. The student-athlete also must intend to continue academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.

Domingos, who finished out her career at South Florida in December, was a two-time Conference USA First Team selection and a two-time C-USA Setter of the Year honoree. For the past two seasons she has also been named to the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) All-Region Team and was named to the Verizon Academic All-District Second Team this past season.

Of the 29 women selected for this fall sports postgraduate scholarship, Domingos was the only athlete chosen from the state of Florida.
