Petrovic Joins UAB Volleyball Coaching Staff

UAB head volleyball coach Melinda Claiborne has announced the addition of Nikola Petrovic as an assistant coach on the Blazers’ staff.
"We had tremendous interest in this position and I am very pleased that we were able to hire a coach of such high caliber,” said Claiborne. “Nikola brings in a tremendous amount of coaching experience, at many levels of the game and has proven his effectiveness as a recruiter. He is a person of great integrity and has a fantastic personality. I am excited about the balance and blend that our staff will have with his addition."
Petrovic comes to UAB from Barton County Community College in Great Band, Kansas where he worked as an assistant coach from during the 2004 season. Prior to working at Barton County CC, Petrovic was an assistant coach at Northwood University in Midland, Mich. from 2001-04. While at Northwood, he handled recruiting duties, prepared weight-training and conditioning programs and acted as camp director.
Petrovic also served as head coach of AAU volleyball clubs in the Bay City, Mich. area from 2001-02 following a stint in Chicago on the coaching staff of the Dragons Volleyball Club from 2000-01.
Petrovic was born and raised in Belgrade, Yugoslavia and completed his undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Physical Education.
