ATHENS, Ga. - Marshall sophomore women's tennis standout Kellie Schmitt (Pittsburgh, Pa.) will get her chance at the 2007 NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Tournament when she faces off against Stanford's Theresa Logar on Wednesday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Georgia.

Schmitt, who ended her singles season with an 18-6 record and ranked #75 in the ITA/FILA rankings, will face Logar for the second time in the 2006-07 season. Logar, ranked eighth in the latest national rankings and seeded in between nine and 16 at the singles championship, beat Schmitt at the ITA All-American in the main draw, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, on October 5 in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Logar, who was a 2006 NCAA semifinalist and top player for the 2006 NCAA Champion Cardinal, trailed Schmitt in the third set at the ITA All-American before rallying for the win.

"We're looking forward to the opportunity to get started in the tournament," said Marshall head coach John Mercer. "There's a lot of enthusiasm and excitement for the tournament here in Athens, and Kellie is very excited to be a part of it."

Schmitt and Logar will play at 11:30 a.m. in the lower half of the singles draw, with the winner taking on the winner of the Catherine Newman (Vanderbilt)/Laura Vallverdu (Miami, Fla.) match.
