2001-02 CONFERENCE USA WOMEN’S SWIMMING AND DIVING
Swimmer of the Week Maria Oberg, (Sr.- Sjobo, Sweden) – Cincinnati Oberg set NCAA Provisional Qualifying times in both the 500 (4:46.66) and 1,650-yard freestyle (16:31.26) at the Miami Invitational last weekend. Both her times also were pool and meet records. Her effort in the 500 freestyle bettered the old mark by nearly five seconds, while her 1,650 time was more than eight seconds better than the previous record.
Diver of the Week Yulia Pakhalina, (So. – Moscow, Russia) – Houston Pakhalina won both the one-meter (310.30) and three-meter springboard (571.65) events at the Arkansas Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. This season, Pakhalina has now captured first-place finishes in 12 consecutive events at six meets and holds the league’s top scores in each event.
