C-USA Swimmer/Diver of the Week (Nov. 23)

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK (11/23)
Senior Kristin Bay posted career best times in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke to help lead the Courgars to a second-place finish at their own Cougar Invitation. For her effort, Bay earned her first 2004 Conference USA Swimmer of the Week honor.

As the captain of the Cougars' squad, Bay won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.14, the 11th fastest time in school history. She became just the sixth swimmer in Cougars' history to break the 24-second mark in the 50-yard freestyle with a career-best time of 23.98, which was also a CRWC Natatorium record by any Cougar swimmer. Bay helped her 200-yard medley relay team finish second with a time of 1:47.67 and recorded a split time of 57.81 in the 100-yard backstroke during the 400-yard medley relay for the seventh-fastest time in school history. As a member of the 400-yard medley relay team, Bay helped the group post the eighth-fastest time in school history with 3:56.36.

DIVER OF THE WEEK (11/23)
The Houston diving squad captured three of the four highest scores Sunday afternoon in College Station, Texas, and were led by this week's C-USA Diver of the Week Azul Almanzan.

Junior, Mexico City, Mexico (Colegio Holandes)

Almazan led the Cougar divers with a score of 430.55 points on the platform at the Texas A&M Invitational. The 2003 C-USA Freshman of the Year finished nearly 15 points ahead of her closest competitor, teammate Anna Kiess. Almazan recorded 487.50 points on the 3-meter springboard to finish second in the preliminaries at the Texas A&M Invite.
