HOUSTON, Texas - Day one of the Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championship at the CRWC Natatorium on the campus of the University of Houston wrapped up this evening with strong relay performances from SMU. The Mustangs took both the 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay to begin the championship.

Women's team scores will not be calculated and will remain unofficial, however, until Marshall's relay teams are given a chance to swim. The Thundering Herd had two days of travel delays due to inclement weather throughout the country and did not arrive at the natatorium until after the meet had begun this evening. The meet progressed as scheduled and Marshall will be allowed to swim its relays after the preliminary heats in the coming days as agreed upon by the other C-USA coaches. The times will then be added to the results and the meet will be scored accordingly.

Men's teams from league schools East Carolina and SMU along with Hawaii are also competing in the C-USA men's invitational. Hawaii leads that event after day one with 117 points, followed by East Carolina with 94 and SMU with 96.

The meet resumes at 10 a.m., Thursday with the preliminaries of the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley and the 50-yard freestyle. The women's 3-meter diving preliminaries will begin around 1 p.m. The finals for those events are slated to begin around 6 p.m.

Tickets will be available for purchase near the front of the CRWC Natatorium beginning one hour prior to the meet Thursday morning. All-session passes are available for $25 for adults or $10 for students with valid ID. Day tickets can be purchased for $10 for adults and $5 for students with ID. Students from any C-USA school with a valid free will be admitted free to the meet.

While there was no admission charged to attend Wednesday's sessions. Fans attending any session beginning Thursday morning will be charged accordingly.
