ECU Women's Swimming and Diving Defeat UNCW
GREENVILLE, N.C. ~ East Carolina University's swim team completed
the dual season today as they hosted UNCW at the Minges Aquatic Center. The
Lady Pirates defeated the Seahawks 151.5-83.5, the men falling 124-117.
"On the guys side a unfortunate thing happen," said Head Coach Rick
Kobe after today's meet. "We had won the meet and than one of our swimmers
jump in while there were still people swimming that event and that is an
automatic disqualification of that relay team. So that caused us to forfeit
those points and loose the meet. This is very very disappointing, the guys
fought really hard it was a great win and the meet was over until the
disqualification. It is a tough way to loose the meet when you won it, but
those are the rules."
The men had six first place finishes, junior Matt Walker
(Charleston, S.C.) took first in the 200 free (1:41.37) and the 100 free
