Louisville Wins Dual Swim Meet over Saint Louis

University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving won its dual meet with Conference USA rival Saint Louis, Saturday at Simon Recreation Center. The women won 168-132 over the Billikens, with the men winning by a 197-101 score.

Louisville opened the meet with a win on the one-meter board by Marianne Bradford and a win in the 200-medley relay with the team of Larissa Niehoff, Heather Meng, Stephanie Wyatt and Emily Rabe. U of L then went 1-2 in the 1000-free and Lauren Bullock took first in the 200-free to open up a 46-28 lead.

SLU won the 100-back followed by a win in the 100-breast, which cut UofL's lead to 60-52. The Cardinals regained control with a win by Angie Nicolletta in the 200-fly, which led to the three-meter diving competition. UofL's Jerilyn Drummond was challenged by Tessa Truesdell, but prevailed with a score of 233.60 to Truesdell's mark of 232.90 Lauren Bullock had a first in the 500 free, Nicolletta had another win in the 100-fly. The Cards wrapped it up with a win in the 200-Free Relay when Bullock, Wyatt, Nicolletta and Rabe hit the wall first.

On the men's side, Louisville pulled away much earlier in the meet by taking first and second places in five of the meet's first nine events. Included in the wins were firsts by Joseph Mittel (100-Back) Jon Farnham (100-free) Clay Jacobs (200-breast) and Matt Lees in the 500 free. The Cardinals relay teams both scored firsts as well. Sean Wilkinson swept the boards with a first in both 1-meter and 3-meter. Teammate Richard Marschner took second in both events as well for the Cardinal sweep.
