IRVING, Texas - Sasha Schwendenwein of Houston and Christie Icenhower of East Carolina take this week's Conference USA Swimmer and Diver of the Week Awards, respectively. Schwendenwein was the Cougars' leading performer during their weekend quad meet as she won all eight events in which she competed whether as an individual or as a member of a relay team. Icenhower set an ECU record on the three-meter board against UNC-Wilmington with a score of 332.40 and also won the one-meter board.

SWIMMER OF THE WEEK (1/16)
SASHA SCHWENDENWEIN - Houston

Schwendenwein was the Cougars' leading performer during wins over North Texas, New Mexico State and Florida International in a quad meet last weekend. The sophomore won all eight events in which she competed whether as an individual or as a member of a relay team. She swam the anchor leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay team which posted a time of 1:48.70 and then won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.12. Schwendenwein grabbed top honors in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.74 and also swam the third leg of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team with a time of 3:33.08 to conclude the first day of the meet. The native of South Africa posted the fastest split among the Cougars (52.60) on that 400 freestyle relay team.

Schwendenwein started the second day of the quad meet as the anchor of the winning 400-yard medley relay team which posted a time of 3:57.05. She then won the very next event - the 500-yard freestyle - with a time of 5:04.07. She also placed first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.28. To cap off the event, Schwendenwein swam the second leg of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team which clocked in with a time of 1:38.35. Once again, the sophomore posted the fastest split among the Cougars (24.40) on that 200 freestyle relay team.

DIVER OF THE WEEK (1/16)
CHRISTIE ICENHOWER - East Carolina

Icenhower set an ECU record on the three-meter board with a score of 332.40, breaking her own school record of 296.10 also set against UNC-Wilmington in 2005, to help lead the Pirates to a 158-85 win over UNCW on Sunday. She also claimed top honors on the one-meter board with a score of 263.70. The junior earned a first-place finish on the three-meter board against Virginia Tech on Saturday with a score of 276.07. This is the second weekly honor for Icenhower this season (Oct. 24).
