IRVING, Texas - Conference USA Swimming and Diving Teams were busy these last few weeks despite the holidays as Houston, Rice and SMU all were in action around the holidays. Notably, Houston traveled to Hawaii and picked up three wins in the Hawaii Invitational. With those wins, the Cougars improved to 12-3 this season and set a school single-season record for dual-meet victories.

SWIMMER/DIVER of the Week (1/9)
No. 8 SMU sweeps this week's Conference USA Swimmer and Diver of the Week awards after a strong showing in its dual meet with No. 6 Georgia on Saturday. Sophomore Petra Klosova won three of the four events she swam and clocked a career-best time along the way to grab the weekly swimming honor. Teammate Kristin Schild dominated in the diving events, taking wins on both boards and claims the diving honor.

SWIMMER of the Week (1/9)
Petra Klosova - SMU
So., Koprovince, Czech Republic (Masarykoro Gymnasium)

Klosova won three of the four events she swam and clocked in a career-best time against No. 6 Georgia on Saturday. The sophomore swam the first leg of 400 medley relay that clocked in at 3:46.81, good for first-place. She notched a split of 56.13 in the 100 back as the lead leg. Klosova then swam a career-best time in the 100 back with a first-place time of 56.06. The Czech native garnered another first-place finish as she posted a time of 50.16 in the 100 free. She finished the day swimming the first leg of 400 free relay that clocked in at 3:24.40, posting the second best time this season by a 400 free Mustang relay. Her 100 free split time clocked in at 50.29. The honor is the third of the season for Klosova (Oct. 31, Nov. 21).

DIVER of the Week (1/9)
Kristin Schild - SMU
Sr., Barrington, Ill. (Barrington)

Schild swept the diving events against Georgia on Saturday. In the three-meter diving event, Schild led the way as she posted a mark of 285.44 for first place. The senior took another first-place finish as she won the one-meter diving event with a score of 267.30. This is Schild's second diving honor of the season (Nov. 14).

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Conference USA will name an Swimmer and Diver of the week throughout the regular season. The Athlete of the Week awards are selected by the C-USA media relations department and announced every Tuesday throughout the season.

OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
(12/19- 1/7)
SZINTIA SANTO - Houston

Szanto swam against Hiram College, Minnesota State-Mankato and South Dakota during the Hawaii Relay Meet in Honolulu on Dec. 31. She was a member of two winning relay teams and swam the anchor of the winning 400-yard medley team which posted a time of 4:13.22 and finished nearly nine seconds ahead of the closest competitor. Szanto swam the second leg of the winning 150-yard butterfly relay team, which won by nearly three seconds.

ANASTASIA POZDNIAKOVA- Houston
Pozdniakova was the Cougars' leading performer on the three-meter springboard at the Hawaii Diving Invite. She took first on the three-meter with 316.45 points to finish nearly 35 points ahead of the next diver. She was the only diver to crack the 300-point plateau in that event.

CARLYANN MILLER - Rice
Rice sophomore Carlyann Miller won the 100-yard freestyle at the Florida Atlantic tri-dual meet on Jan. 3, the Owls' only competition last week. Miller posted a time of 52.28 to take first among a field of 15 competitors from Clemson, Missouri State and meet host Florida Atlantic. She was also third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.83) and swam the first leg on the Owls' second place 200-free relay where she had a 24.24 time on the leadoff.
