Softball's Lott Earns EA SPORTS High School All-American Honors
July 24, 2007 HOUSTON - University of Houston softball signee Baillie Lott was one of 30 players in the nation to pick up EA SPORTS High School All-American First-Team honors on July 19. The Brentwood High product was named Tennessee Softball Player of the Year by Gatorade and Rise Magazine on June 6. The annual EA SPORTS All-American Team is selected by the editors of Student Sports, which have compiled national rankings and All-American teams in numerous sports for more than 20 years. This is the second year that the EA SPORTS All-American program has been extended to softball. Lott notched a .528 batting average with 14 home runs and 81 RBIs last season. She compiled a .567 on-base percentage and a 1.024 slugging clip. Lott also put together a 24-1 record for the Bruins in the circle with a stifling 0.38 ERA. She recorded 17 shutouts in 25 starts and stuck out 201 batters in 147 innings of work. In the classroom, Lott maintained a 4.06 weighted GPA and was a member of the Middle Tennessee Coaches Association's All-Academic Team for the last three seasons. She also volunteers with Brentwood's "Care Bears," assisting with special needs students and donates her time to the Special Olympics along with Habitat for Humanity. Lott along with Jennifer Klinkert, Angela Spittler and Katy Beth Sherman will join the Houston softball program in the fall as freshmen. The Cougars (44-18) are coming off the program's first Conference USA regular season and tournament titles.
