Butler, Stewart Earn Softball Academic All-America Recognition

Charity Butler

Southern Miss infielder Charity Butler and USF outfielder Tiffany Stewart were each selected to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America University Division Women's Softball team as selected by CoSIDA on Thursday. Butler earned first-team recognition, while Stewart was selected to the second team.

Butler, a junior, carries a perfect 4.00 GPA in business administration and is just the second C-USA athlete to earn first-team Academic All-America honors joining DePaul's Sarah Martz, who was a two-time, first-team member during her career.

Stewart, also a junior, has a cumulative GPA of 3.93 as a psychology major at USF. The Odessa, Fla., native also earned All-America accolades on the field this season as she was named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American third team.
