DePaul opens NCAA Super Regional play today at Flames Field in Chicago against eighth-seeded Northwestern. The Blue Demons and Wildcats are playing game one of a best-of-three series with the winner clinching a spot in the NCAA Softball World Series to be played June 2-8 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The Blue Demons were just one of two unseeded teams to make the Super Regionals, which is the first in NCAA Softball history. This is the 11th NCAA Tournament appearance and ninth-consecutive for the Blue Demons, who have won four consecutive C-USA Tournament crowns.

DePaul is 20-16 all-time in regional action and won both the 1999 and 2000 regionals to advance to the College World Series. The Blue Demons have reached the regional finals six times, including this season’s appearance in the Super Regional.
