Conference USA had nine softball athletes named to various All-Region teams in an announcement made by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday. USF rightfielder Tiffany Stewart and East Carolina designated player Mandi Nichols were the only players to earn first team honors, while the other seven were named to respective second teams. Tournament champion DePaul and East Carolina each had a league-leading three representatives on the all-region teams.

Stewart and Nichols each earned spots on the All-Southeast Region first team. Stewart led the league with a .449 average in league play. Her .382 overall average currently ranks fourth in the league as the Bulls prepare for NCAA regional action in Gainesville, Fla., this weekend. Nichols batted .339 for the season with 12 home runs and 40 RBI.

Joining Stewart and Nichols from C-USA on the All-Southeast Region squad were second-team members Keli Harrell and Kate Manuse of East Carolina. Harrell had an outstanding sophomore campaign for the Pirates as she posted 29 of the team’s 55 wins in the circle. She also broke the school’s career-record for strikeouts after registering 338 in 282 innings this season, which gives her a two-year total of 499. Manuse was equally impressive at the plate for ECU as the senior led the team with 14 home runs, 59 RBI and a .395 batting average. The senior’s 59 RBI and 21 doubles led C-USA this season.

Louisville’s Aja Sherman and Houston’s Kristen Glowacz earned second-team All-South Region honors after putting together award-winning efforts in their final seasons of eligibility. Sherman was named the C-USA Pitcher of the Year recently and enters NCAA Tournament action at Notre Dame this weekend with a 21-10 record and 13 shutouts. Sherman tossed one of her seven one-hitters this season at the C-USA Tournament also threw a pair of no-hitters during the season.

Glowacz shared the league’s MVP honors after belting a league-leading 17 home runs and driving in a team-high 50 runs. The senior earned national recognition when she claimed Co-National Player of the Week honors by NFCA after connecting on back-to-back-to-back home runs against No. 16 Nebraska on March 9.

First baseman Saskia Roberson, pitcher Tracie Adix and utility player Sandy Vojik make up the trio of Blue Demons that were named to the All-Mideast Region second team. DePaul won its fourth-consecutive C-USA Tournament last weekend in Tampa and will play NCAA Region No. 8 host Wisconsin in its opening game of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.

Roberson will finish her career as the league’s all-time leader in home runs (49 and counting) and needs five RBI in tournament play to break that career mark, currently held by Glowacz (175). Roberson is currently batting .349 for the season with 13 home runs and 37 RBI.

Adix led the Blue Demons and was second in C-USA with 22 wins and enters NCAA Tournament play with a 1.90 ERA. Vojik earned first-team All-C-USA honors and All-Freshman recognition after putting together a solid rookie campaign. Vojik batted .283 with a pair of home runs and 10 RBI in 37 starts for the Blue Demons.
