MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Women's soccer head coach Brooks Monaghan was honored with the Soccer Buzz Central Region Coach of the Year for 2007. Monaghan led his Tigers to a 17-4-1 record this season including the C-USA Championship title and an NCAA appearance.

Monaghan has completed his eighth season as the women's soccer head coach and it was his most successful season to date. With an amazing amount of new talent and a steady group of veterans Monaghan was able to be one of the top teams in conference play all season. The women's soccer team entered the season as preseason No. 5, but knew that they were capable of being No. 1. They were ranked in numerous soccer polls all season and finished No. 7 in the Soccer Buzz Central Region end of the season poll.

The Tigers finished the season as Co-C-USA regular season champions, C-USA Champions and NCAA participants. In a season made for the record books, Memphis broke records on all levels including individual, team and conference. They swept the C-USA Championship not allowing any goals during the entire tournament. They posted a 9-1 record at home, posting an overall winning percentage of .772.

Monaghan has improved his career record to 79-69-9 (.531). He has coached 22 C-USA all-conference players, two C-USA Freshman of the Year, one C-USA Offensive MVP and one C-USA Newcomer of the Year. In 2007, the women's soccer team broke 18 team and 14 individual Memphis records, while earning the team's first conference championship title.
