No. 8 SMU remained undefeated (2-0-1) with a 1-0 victory against Georgetown in the final match of the Mi Cocina Classic at Westcott Field on Sunday. Gabe Arredondo scored the Mustangs lone goal in the 35th minute as he hit a 25-yard shot from right of center for his first tally of the season. Arredondo finished the pass from Bruno Guarda after a feed from Leone Cruz. The Mustangs outshot the Hoyas 16-7 and allowed just three shots on goal. Goalkeeper Steve Sandbo recorded all three saves for the Ponies in the victory. Arredondo connected for SMU on his only shot of the match. The 'Stangs were led on four shots by Dane Saintus as well as three from Scott Corbin, Leone Cruz, and Adrian Chevannes. SMU won its opener of the Mi Cocina Classic in a 5-1 rout of No. 3 Virginia on Friday.

Tulsa won its third straight match to start the season with a 1-0 victory against Georgetown in the first round of the SMU Mi Cocina Classic in Dallas. Senior forward Todd Goddard tallied the game-winning goal. Goddard knocked in his third goal of the season in the third minute of the contest, while senior Eric Burkholder and freshman Chris Taylor picked up the assists. With his assist, Burkholder moved into the Golden Hurricane record books for ninth-place on the all-time assists list with 20. He currently ties former TU standouts Kyle Brown, Mario Gonzalez and David Gordon. The Golden Hurricane dropped a 2-0 decision to No.3 Virginia on Sunday afternoon in a match that was an hour longer than usual due to a lightening delay. Tulsa senior goalkeeper Dominic Cervi picked up five saves in the contest for 17 this season and 143 in his career.

UAB used the strength of four first-half goals en route to a 4-0 victory over Centenary on Sunday afternoon. The win marked the Blazers' second consecutive shutout victory, outscoring their opponents by a count of 7-0 during the two-game stretch. The Blazers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard when junior Frank Brown scored his second goal of the season at the 7:03 mark. Defender Jonah Stewart sent a cross from the left side of the field, which found Brown, who then deposited a header into the back of the net for the one-goal lead. Just under a minute later, UAB made it a two-goal lead when junior MAC Hermann Trophy candidate Dejan Jakovic scored his second goal in as many games. Jakovic received a pass from junior midfielder Derek Rios, beat a defender and deposited the ball into the back of the net.

Two UAB freshmen closed the scoring, as Michal Mravec and Anthony King each tallied a goal. Mravec was the benefactor of some beautiful passing on the Blazer attack. Rios chipped a ball to Jakovic who was wide open in front of the net. However, instead of shooting, Jakovic made the extra pass to Mravec who deposited the ball into an empty net at the 30-minute mark. King finished the scoring when he beat a defender and buried a shot into the back of the net at the 38:52 mark. It was King's second goal in as many games.

UCF made a successful trip West, picking up a pair of wins at the Nike/TLC Plumbing and Utility Invitational in Albuquerque. Going 2-0 during the two-day competition, the Knights won the overall title, while senior forward James Georgeff, junior midfielder Ryan Roushandel, redshirt freshman defender Kyle Pascioni and freshman Sean Johnson made the all-tournament team.

Freshmen Matt Luzunaris and Johnson helped the UCF men's soccer team take a 1-0 victory over Loyola Marymount on Sunday. After the two teams went scoreless in the first half, the Knights' offense finally struck in the 66th minute off the boot of Luzunaris. Junior Mike Mattson passed the ball from the middle to the freshman forward, who beat the Lions' goalkeeper on shot that went from right to left. Johnson, the Knights' rookie goalkeeper, continued to play well, making seven saves in the match and recording his first collegiate shutout.

With less than a minute remaining in regulation play on Friday against Cincinnati, Roushandel knocked in his second goal of the match to give the UCF a 2-1 victory over the Bearcats. Johnson set up Roushandel's first tally, moving the ball forward to Luzunaris, who then knocked the ball to Roushandel. He finished the play on a shot from 10 yards in the 34th minute. The Knights held onto the lead until the 84th minute when UC evened the match at 1-1. He was assisted by classmate Matt Telting and junior Scott Stockum. Georgeff served up the game-winner on a free kick from the right side. Roushandel's header hit the crossbar before beating Cincinnati's freshman goalkeeper

Memphis and Cal State Northridge played a hard match Sunday night but had to settle for a 0-0 tie. The match started well for both sides with pressure at either end, but it quickly became a struggle through the middle of the field, with midfielders and defenders struggling for possession. Northridge had outshot the Tigers, 15-11, but just three Matador shots found their target, and all were met by keeper Tyler Strom's gloves. Memphis' best chance to score came in the first overtime period, with Jordan Lynn putting a shot off the crossbar.

Kentucky sophomore forward Tim Crone netted his second goal in as many games but it was not enough to earn the win, as UK tied Cleveland State 1-1 in double overtime on Sunday. Crone scored the equalizer in the 67th minute, taking a cross from Jirijoonas Kanth from the left side of the 18-yard box, and heading it into the back of the net. Crone tallied his first career goal in a UK uniform during Thursday's match against intrastate rival Louisville. Kentucky had numerous chances during the 110 minutes of action, registering 15 total shots - seven on goal - to the Vikings 12. UK had its best chances in the second half, as the Wildcats tallied eight shots and five corner kicks. UK goalie Dan Williams tallied seven total saves for the Wildcats, including two critical saves late in the first half. In the 40th minute, CSU's Jordan Zapotechne broke through the UK defense, firing a hard shot into an outstretched Williams.

Marshall fell 4-1 in its season home opener against Louisville in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at Sam Hood Field. The loss dropped the Thundering Herd to 1-2 on the season and evened the all-time series at four games apiece. The Herd wasted no time on offense as junior midfielder Dana Heimbecker received a through ball from teammate Osric Flores and drove a shot from outside the 18-yard box past a diving David Simolike in the 2nd minute of the game to give the Herd a 1-0 lead. However, the Cardinals held a 2-1 lead midway through the match and two more shots found the net in the second half.

No. 15 South Carolina suffered its second loss of the season on Saturday, falling to USF, 2-0, in its final game at the UConn adidas Classic. The Gamecocks seemingly dominated at the net, managing 13 shots against just seven by the USF offense. Freshman forward Blake Brettschneider led Carolina with three shots, including two on goal, while senior midfielder J.D. Moon chipped in two shots, both on the net. Carolina's freshman goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer tallied two saves. The Gamecocks were also shutout by host No. 14 Connecticut.

Florida International was also at the UConn adidas Classic. After holding off an offensive onslaught of 25 shots by Connecticut, FIU's defense finally faltered as they allowed the winning goal with just nine seconds remaining in regulation. Even though they were out-shot 25-4, FIU's defense and the Golden Panther goalkeeper Kyle Thomas held strong. However, the Huskies' pressure was too much to hold off for 90 minutes. Thomas was credited with five saves. FIU dropped a close 1-0 decision on USF on Friday night.
