Louisville Signs Three Men's Soccer Players

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville men's soccer head coach Tony Colavecchia has announced that two student-athletes have signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their careers at U of L.

Dan Martin, a left sided defender from St. Louis, Mo., is a transfer from State Fair Community College in Union, Mo. There, he earned All Region Team honors as a sophomore. For the past five years State Fair Community College has been recognized in the nation for their soccer program. Prior to his junior college career, Martin played at yet another nationally known soccer institution at Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, Mo.

"Dan is a very solid left sided player. He will bring in a wealth of experience to our defense. He will also complement Conference USA first team player Adrian Cann, and will anchor the Louisville defense," said Colavecchia.

Matt Neeley, a versatile soccer player from New Albany, Ind., will concentrate his play mainly in the back and midfield. He is currently the starting guard for the New Albany Bulldogs basketball team. Last year he received second team All-State honors and is a member of the Indiana State Olympic Development Program. Neeley narrowed down his college choices to Indiana University and the University of Louisville. Colavecchia said, "He is one of the most versatile players I have ever met. I have been coaching him since he was 14 and with the relationship we have, I know he will be a valuable asset to the team."

Bo Schneider, a midfielder from Lexington, Ky., attends Lexington Catholic, has a list of both academic and athletic achievements. He is currently fourth in his class with a 4.0. In his freshman year of high school his team made it to the state semi-finals. As a sophomore he again made it to the state semifinals, receiving all district, all region, all city, and all state honorable mention awards. He was also added on the list of Who's Who in Sports. He was a team captain his junior year, again receiving awards for all district, all region, first team all state, and the Catholic Cup All Tournament Team. He was also the Defensive MVP. Schneider has also participated on numerous nationally recognized club teams.

Colavecchia said, "We are delighted that Bo selected U of L. Bo is a reliable technical player that can help the team right away. He is a very determined character who will play in the midfield position for us. He is also a very adaptable player who rises to get forward in attacks but also has good defending tendencies."
